Project Gotham Racing 3 at 30fps; New Screens
September 15th, 2005 (12:43pm) - Eurogamer.nets latest preview of Project Gotham Racing 3 for the Xbox 360 has revealed that the game is currently running at thirty frames per second, as they got to see a new demo of the game at Microsofts headquarters in Japan, earlier today, prior to the Tokyo Game Show.
"This versions running at 30 frames per second," said Bizarre Creations design manager, Gareth Wilson. "Well see how we go. Its all about timings. If we had four months we could get it running at 60. Its whether weve got the time." "In the next generation frame rate will become much less important," says Wilson, "because when you apply HDR and these lighting effects and run with motion blur, you cant tell the difference at 60. You dont notice that much difference because the motion blur takes a lot of it away." Were sure many racing fans may disappointed by this news, however, it is heavily being rumored that Project Gotham Racing 3 will not make the Xbox 360s launch in any territory. Although, it was originally scheduled to launch with the console, Bizarre Creations is taking their time to optimize the game to the best of their abilities. As you can see from the screenshots below, PGR3 features an unprecedented amount of detail. Hopefully, Bizarre Creations gets more time to work on the games framerate, because if any of us have learned anything from playing racing games, its that sixty frames per second frame rate can make all the difference in terms of speed.
