Konami Planning Next-Gen Castlevania Title
September 26th, 2005 (11:06am) - Koji Igarashi, the famed producer behind the Castlevania series, has revealed that Konami is planning the development of a next generation Castlevania videogame. Igarashis comments can be found in the latest issue of the Japanese publication Nintendo Dream. Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Mario, the magazine created a feature which has game creators reminiscing about classic NES franchises.
For Castlevanias 20th Anniversary next year, Igarashi said that he would like to do something outside of videogames to celebrate. However, we can expect the development Castlevania games to continue, with Igarashi at the helm of development for both handheld and home console installments in the series. Igarashi mentioned that he hopes to continue the trend in which the home console Castlevania games depict a world prior to Draculas fall, while the portable entries in the series take place after Draculas rule.
