October 3rd, 2005 (4:54pm) - Mythic Entertainment has announced that Darkness Rising, the sixth expansion pack for the critically-acclaimed Dark Age of Camelot, has "gone gold" and will be available on October 11th. The expansion will be available as a stand alone product via Mythic’s new integrated digital distribution system and as part of the upcoming Dark Age of Camelot: Epic Edition.

Dark Age of Camelot subscribers can now pre-order Darkness Rising for $19.99 through a new in-game menu option. Anyone ordering before October 10th will receive an exclusive suit of armor for their new in-game mount. "The launch of Darkness Rising showcases our ongoing commitment to our flagship title with thrilling, new content that evolves the world of Dark Age of Camelot beyond its current boundaries," said Jeff Hickman, Executive Producer for Dark Age of Camelot. "With our new digital distribution system, this new content will be immediately available to players upon release."

Darkness Rising will be included, along with the original game and all expansions released to date, in the new Dark Age of Camelot: Epic Edition to be available at retail on October 11th for $39.99.

Darkness Rising requires the original Dark Age of Camelot, and Catacombs expansion pack to play. Former players returning to the game can re-activate their account, regain their original characters and take advantage of the online availability of the expansion.

For those who have yet to discover what has kept people playing Dark Age of Camelot for four years, a 14-day free trial version, which includes the original game as well as the Shrouded Isles, Foundations, and New Frontiers expansions, is available for download from www.darkageofcamelot.com/downloads.
