THQ appoints Jeffrey Griffiths to board of directors
October 17th, 2005 (10:29pm) - THQ has announced the appointment of Jeffrey Griffiths to its Board of Directors. Griffiths will fill a new seat on the THQ board, which has expanded from five to six directors.
Recognized as a leader in the field of specialty video game retailing, Griffiths was most recently president and CEO of video game retailer Electronics Boutique prior to its merger with GameStop. During his tenure as president and CEO, he tripled Electronics Boutiques (EB) market capitalization and grew revenues by nearly 300%. Griffiths served as vice president and senior vice president of Merchandising, Marketing and Distribution for Electronics Boutique from 1987 to 1996 and from 1996 to 2001, respectively. During his tenure with Electronics Boutique, Griffiths helped grow the company from a 55-store chain with $26 million in revenue in 1986 to 2,280 stores and $2 billion in revenue at the end of the companys 2005 fiscal year. Griffiths, holds a M.B.A. from Temple University and a B.A. from Albright College. He resides in Pennsylvania with his wife Jean, and his three sons, Matthew, Steven and Justin.
