300,000 360s To Ship This Week
Say that 5 times fast... December 14th, 2005 (12:31am) - Hot on the heels of successful American/European launches and a less than successful Japanese launch Microsoft is looking to continue where their strengths lie. 300,000 new Xbox 360 core and premium systems will hit the states in time for the tail end of the Christmas rush.
The additional 300,000 units will bring the worldwide total to around 1 million shipped, which includes 300,000 for Europe, 100,000 for Japan, and the initial North American shipment of 300,000 to 400,000. Microsoft has repeatedly expressed that their goal is to ship 3 million Xbox 360s worldwide in its first 90 days on the market. Expectations state that the console should sell just over 1.5 million units by the end of December, which puts Microsoft on track with their goal. Videogame sales overall remain low this season.
