360 Scalpers Get Double Crossed

Join me in a smirk of satisfaction...

December 21st, 2005 (12:40pm) - Score one for honest folks standing in line everywhere! A group of 5 teens in Alaska waited over night at their local Best Buy Sunday night where 50 units were going up for sale the next morning. As you all well know, the Xbox 360 is the hot holiday item for this year and a second shipment has now quickly come and gone.

After purchasing their Premium units, the teens proceeded to try and haggle with the crowd. For the low price of $600, one of the cold miserable people waiting in line could walk away with their mission accomplished.

With no takers, the group piled into a van where they decided to get something to eat at McDonalds. Unbeknownst to them, they were followed by at least two people who noticed the spectacle they were making in the lot.

A man who was described as bald and wearing bluejeans and a blue hooded sweatshirt walked up to the van, opened its sliding door and pulled a gun out, police said. The man ordered the teen to open the van’s rear door. Another man, described as having dark curly hair, opened the door and took four of the Xboxs.

The teen hid the fifth unit under his feet and managed to keep it, Honeman said.

The thieves drove off in a dark SUV. Police believe a third person was involved.
