Rumor: Twilight Princess to Feature Revolution-exclusive Control Method
Good things come for those who wait.
December 22nd, 2005 (3:20pm) - When the GameCubes highly anticipated Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was announced to have been delayed into 2006, many fans believed that the game was being moved to Nintendos next-gen Revolution game console. However, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata and Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto have repeatedly stated that the game will be released for the GameCube. Even so, back in September, Nintendo stated that the "development team is taking the extra time to add some incredible elements" to the GameCubes upcoming Zelda.
Now what are these incredible new elements and why were they so important that the game needed to be delayed? Its often been disputed that Nintendo should move Twilight Princess to the Revolution to ensure the Revolution with an incredibly strong launch line-up, but Nintendo has been keen on keeping the game on the GameCube in order to please current owners of the console. Well, NGC Magazine has reported, in their latest issue, that since the Revolution is completely backwards compatible with GameCube games, Twilight Princess will feature a Revolution-exclusive control scheme that uses the consoles pointer and analog extension "nunchaku" setup to play the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess in a whole new way. If true, which this rumor likely is, gamers will be able to use the Revolutions pointer to swing Links sword in a variety of ways, with the analog extension used to move the character around as we would with a normal controller. Additionally, the pointer would also be used to go fishing, as demonstrated in the Revolution controller Tokyo Game Show video reel. It is also likely that whatever musical instrument is featured in Twilight Princess would also be used by some sort of manipulation of the controller.
