Nintendo DS Sold Out in Japan
Supply shortages cannot satisfy handheld's incredible demand overseas. January 5th, 2006 (1:29pm) - Nintendo has issued an official statement apologizing to Japanese consumers regarding the availability of the Nintendo DS in Japan. Over the December month the DS has seen its highest hardware and software sales, selling an estimated 2 million units in a single month and with the release of the Adult Brain Training 2 and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, the handheld has been flying off shelves too fast for Nintendo to resupply game retailers with the hardware. Nintendo will do its best to manufacturer more hardware to satisfy consumer demand as quickly as possible.
Early reports out of Japan are saying that Adult Brain Training 2 has already sold through 450,000 units and combined with the sales of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time and other DS game release, the total number of Nintendo branded DS games sold for the week is estimated to be 1.4 million.
