High Expectations and False Hope Abounds!
Although declared "cancelled" from Activision, will console owners still get to see "The Movies"? February 9th, 2006 (1:07pm) - Earlier in the week, Activision announced that they have canned console ports of "The Movies" due to lackluster sales of the original PC version: This came as a shock to many gamers who had eagerly awaited a "pick up and play" version of the game for the past two years.
To quote Professor Farnsworth: "Good news, everyone!" One of the people on the console development team made this announcement on their official message board: "Activision will not be publishing the console version of The Movies but that does not mean the project is dead," writes Sam. "Rest assured that the team at Lionhead Studios is as dedicated to The Movies as theyve ever been; an expansion pack is currently in development (which will be announced very shortly) and we are continuing to support The Movies Online!" "The Movies Online" is a PC-only incarnation of the game, as is the mentioned expansion pack. This news is highly unofficial, and who knows if what this programmer says is true or not: But its at least now fans of the game still have a light to follow at the end of the tunnel.
