GDC 06: PSP Expands Its Uses
Lots of new stuff coming for the PSP that should make any PSP owner interested. March 22nd, 2006 (10:47pm) - Phil Harrison has announced the plans Sony has for the Playstation Portable. Though a lot has already been confirmed at the Playstation Biz conference, what he mentioned comes as follows:
- PSP games will be available via download over the internet to memory stick. Including PS one games, running on a new emulator, as well as other titles available by e-distribution. - Two new add-ons to the system including a USB camera / EyeToy coming in September and a GPS device coming in October. - The EyeToy and GPS both promise gameplay opportunities and general use. - An upgrade of the RSS features - Compatibility with Flash while browsing the internet. - Video and still camera features will be implemented, and VOIP will be a big part of the system in the future. - In general, "communication-based" gaming is one direction the PSP will explore in future titles. - Price officially dropped for the system with the core system package - Five thousand development units have been sent out. - LocoRoco confirmed for release in America.
