Konamis First Revolution (Wii) Game Revealed
A wacky new and original property created to utilize the Revolution's freestyle controller. April 26th, 2006 (4:55pm) - This weeks issue of Japans Famitsu magazine has revealed the first details concerning Konamis first Nintendo Revolution game, a completely original property by the name of Elebits. Producing the game is Shingo Mukaitouge, who is known for his work on Guitar Freaks and the Drum Mania series.
Only a handful of details were revealed regarding the game however any information is good information and in Elebits players move around the games world in attempt to find and collect Elebit creatures, tiny little creatures that are being compared to Nintendos own Pikmin creation. Elebits are creatures that serve as the energy source of the games world, allowing it to move. The "Ele" part of the name is short for electricity and the latter "bit" half reflects the tiny size of these creatures. As you come across and obtain these creatures, the games world will slowly evolve in a variety of ways, any of which have not been made clear. It is said that the game will offer a feel of hunting so that finding these Elebits ends up being a challenging experience. Other specific gameplay details have not been disclosed however Mukaitouge did reveal that the games design stems from three concepts; the first being a sense of feel and allowing the player to feel as if they are touching the things that are on the screen, the second is finding various objects by manipulating the environment physically, and the last being the creation of a new IP and characters, those being the Elebits. The game is said to take full advantage of the Revolutions innovative freestyle controller. Konami wanted to create a gameplay experience that could not be mimicked using any other existing controller and game platform. Elebits is a game that Konami hopes will be appealing to a broad audience of game players, the hardcore and casual gaming crowds alike. It has been revealed that some stages and gameplay scenarios can be played in under ten minutes, but its also been mentioned that game will offer some depth with the inclusion of secret content and other gameplay features of that sort. Online gameplay modes are also being considered however this online functionality will only be considered once the development of the single-player portion of the game has been completed. Were likely to learn more about Elebits at E3 next month. Reported by Elias Dounis on April 26th, 2006 (4:55pm)
