Madden Comes To Wii

Designed from the ground up, an exclusive Madden will be coming to the Wii. Details inside.

April 27th, 2006 (9:54pm) - EA has announced that Madden 2007 will be coming to the Nintendo Wii, but in a not-so surprising move, it won’t be developed by EA Tiburon. It will instead be developed by EA’s own Wii-specific development studio in Canada.

EA senior vice president John Schappert had a few things to say about this game.

""The approach we took is, okay, we’re making Madden for Revolution. Forget what the control scheme was before, what should it be?"

That said, some specifics regarding the control scheme were revealed, and are infact everything fans have invisioned. In order to hike the ball, players will simply pull the controller. To throw the ball players will make a throwing motion -- fast, hard motions will throw a bullet pass, and a slower, softer motion will lob the ball.

Kicking will also be done creatively -- players will have to hold the controller like they’re going to kick the ball, and move it in a straight line from ground to sky. The straighter the motion, the straighter the ball will fly.

Perhaps more exciting is the fact that Schappert mentioned there are other Wii games in development which will be revealed at a later date.

Expect more information on the Wii version of Madden 2007 during E3 of this year, since the game will be playable there.
