Wii Successor In Hi Definition
Miyamoto confirmed that Nintendos next next-gen machine will support HD graphics. May 11th, 2006 (2:37pm) - During a Q&A session yesterday at E3, Nintendos Shigeru Miyamoto spoke on HD technology in defense of not supporting the tech in the Wii. However, Mr. Miyamoto did add that Nintendos Wii-successor would be support the HD format.
As elaborated on by various Nintendo executives many times in the past, Nintendos reasoning for not delivering HD graphics with its Wii game console is due to the number of HD TV sets in households not being large enough, thus allowing the tech not be utilized by most potential owners of its game console. "Of course I think five years down the road it would be pretty much a given that Nintendo would create an HD system, but right now the predominant television set in the world is a non-HD set," said Miyamoto. "We thought it would be better to create a system that allows you to interact with any TV set you have in your home in an entirely new, different way, and even kind of turn that into a toy for your TV that anyone can pick up, interact with and enjoy - rather than only the people who have a very high-tech, specific kind of TV set," he added. So, gamers wanting to play Nintendo-branded games in HD will have to wait at least another five years. Better late than never, as they say. Reported by Elias Dounis on May 11th, 2006 (2:37pm)
