Animal Crossing to the Big Screen

Nintendo’s popular community game to see animated feature film.

May 16th, 2006 (7:14pm) - It has been revealed that a big screen adaptation of Nintendo’s extremely popular and successful Animal Crossing series is in the works. The animated feature is scheduled to hit Japanese theaters this December and will be directed by Japanese director Jouji Shimura.

Animal Crossing Wild World has proven to be one of the Nintendo DS’ most impressive pieces of online software. The game has sold through 2.6 million copies in Japan alone and is likely to go on and reach three million units sold by year’s end, as the game continues to make an appearance on Japan’s Top 10 sales charts week after week.
