Backward Compatability Nearing End?

Don’t throw out your Xbox in favor of your 360 just yet. Xbox chief Peter Moore feels "nobody is concerned anymore about backward compatability."

June 2nd, 2006 (9:45am) - Remember when Microsoft said they were going to work hard to get as many Xbox titles backward compatable with the Xbox 360? Remember when afterwards they switched up saying that only the best selling Xbox titles would receive the honor? Now Microsoft is switching it up again, and future titles equipped with backward compatability are looking less likely than ever.

Peter Moore, Xbox VP said the following in a recent interview with Kikizo Games.

"Nobody is concerned anymore about backwards compatibility. We under promised and over delivered on that. It’s a very complicated thing... very complex work. I’m just stunned that we have hundreds of games that are backwards compatible," he said. "More are coming, but at some point, you just go, there’s enough, let’s move on, or people aren’t as worried about a game being backwards compatible - and I like to think we’ve upheld our end of the bargain in making at least two or maybe three hundred games backwards compat."

It looks like Microsoft may be putting a stop to the entire project, though nothing is confirmed. Either way, things are looking bad for the feature.
