Rebellion Buys Strangelite
Rebellion scores one against the Empire! New projects on the way. June 3rd, 2006 (11:56am) - Is smaller developers being bought out by bigger ones a shocker to you? It shouldnt be -- analysts have been predicting it happening for years. Now you can add Strangelite Studios to the list. It was revealed on their website that theyve been bought by developer Rebellion (Sniper Elite, Rogue Trooper, Judge Dredd). Strangelite, formerly affiliated with Empire Interactive, is currently working on two first-person shooters for both consoles and PC, one of which will be, according to the website "a new and exciting IP in the FPS genre." Strangelite is no stranger to the genre, having developed last years Starship Troopers for the PC. Rebellion has been making games for fifteen years, incase youve never heard of them. Alien Vs. Predator on the Atari Jaguar falls into their resume, as will the upcoming PSP version of Miami Vice. Aside from the Judge Dredd license, they also own the 2000 AD comics line.
