Ubisoft Announces Five More Wii Launch Titles
Ubisoft announces five additional launch titles for the Wii, bringing their total Wii launch count to seven, and the total Wii launch count nearly to thirty. August 3rd, 2006 (2:24pm) - Ubisoft announced today that theyll be releasing seven total titles during the Wii launch window, bringing the total number of games for the Wii close to thirty.
In addition to the previously announced Red Steel and Rayman Raving Rabbids, Ubisoft will have versions of Far Cry, Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII, Open Season, Monster 4x4 World Circuit, and GT Pro Series available around the same time. "Were thrilled that Ubisoft will be unveiling Wii versions of both exclusive new IP and established franchises," said Reggie Fils-Aime, president and chief operating officer for Nintendo of America. "Bursting with creativity, innovation and unadulterated fun, these Ubisoft games embody the qualities that will make Wii a huge hit with gamers new and established, young and old." According to Ubisoft there are "many more titles in development" as well. "Media and analysts agree that Ubisoft has the greatest potential for reward with the new consoles launch because we believed in its potential from the beginning," said Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft North America. "With an impressive lineup of launch games that offer something for everyone, we are in a unique position to benefit from the Wiis success in appealing to both new and hardcore gamers." The Wii version of Far Cry will make full use of the systems unique controller, and the title will have new content. It is unknown as of now whether it will be a new game, or simply a port of any existing Far Cry titles currently available. Blazing Angels will also make full use of the Wii controller as players participate in WWII dogfights, though it is also unknown whether this will be a port of any Blazing Angels games currently available. GT Pro Series is a racing game being developed by MTO, though it will be optimized for the Wii by Ubisoft. The game features over eighty licensed cars, has detailed tuning options, drift-style controls and physics and more. Open Season is based on the Sony Pictures Animation CG film, and will be an adventure title.
