Capcom USA Rejected RE0 Wii

There had to be a reason Capcom wasn’t allowing a re-release of an old game... right?

June 10th, 2008 (6:45am) - When you step back to look at how shamelessly Capcom ports their successful titles around (Resident Evil 4 has come to, let’s see here, four systems so far) it’s not surprising when you see another one coming down the pipe. It is surprising, however, when a re-release is coming to Japan but is denied a chance in the States. Such is the case with Resident Evil 0 and its Japan only Wii release.

According to Capcom’s VP of strategic planning Christian Svensson, it’s actually Capcom USA’s call. The decision isn’t final, but the branch has "been asked twice if we’ve wanted to bring it Westward and twice we’ve declined," said Svensson.

"There’s thousands of used copies on Ebay and at Gamestop, and given the outcry against the project when Japan announced it on these boards and others, it’s pretty obvious that it’s not wanted by gamers here."

So, you have it right from the VP’s mouth: Pick up a used copy and do absolutely nothing for Capcom’s bottom line. Now how about some more original games guys?
