The Conduit Dated

High Voltage’s Wii shooter gets a vague release date and online multiplayer.

June 12th, 2008 (8:38am) - Red Steel didn’t quite scratch that Wii-shooter itch for you? Finished both Medal of Honor games on the system? Fret not, shooter fans -- developer High Voltage Software announced that their upcoming Wii FPS, The Conduit, will be released in Q1 2009.

The company said the game fuses "fast and fluid gameplay with an advanced set of visuals intended to squarely establish the Wii as a true next-generation gaming platform."

The game will also include a "competitive online multiplayer component," though no further details have been revealed yet.

"Too many Wii owners have been told that the Wii is a casual platform with no room for serious games or top-tier graphics," said High Voltage Software’s Chief Creative Officer Eric Nofsinger. "With The Conduit, we intend to prove that theory wrong by providing gamers with the kind of title they imagined back when the platform was first announced."

"Conduit was especially designed for the Nintendo Wii," said High Voltage’s Creative Director Matt Corso. "From the weapons to armory and graphics, we tailored everything to the Wii which sets this game play apart from anything else on the market right now."

While the game has been announced for a Q1 2009 release, a publisher has not been chosen yet despite the fact that interest "has been overwhelming."
