Wii Hack Gets Hacked
The newest Wii update aims to clean up the trash. June 18th, 2008 (10:47pm) - If you havent turned on your Wii lately, Nintendos 24-hour download service will welcome you with an eerie blue glow surrounding its disc drive. It looks so pretty, only a fool would resist it.
Like all other updates, this one claims to upgrade the Wii with new functionality concerning the system or its other online components. Unlike the other updates, what this one claims as a mere extra Mii feature, is just a clever guise to undermine recent homebrewers and hackers efforts by rendering their projects null. A recent epiphany on the hacker scene opened a door to a corrupted Zelda: Twilight Princess save file that allowed the oppurtunist to insert four lines of their own code. People have gotten everything from SCUMMVM to Wiiware loaded by running off the SD slot. But its not just illegal or homebrew releases to take the hit, as Datels Freeloader seems to be affected as well. So those people holding dear their ability to play imports may want to think twice before downloding. The Mii-cake is a lie! (Zelda: Twiligt Princess corrupted save)
