Indie Game Developer Thrives, Estimates $825K In First Week
August 18th, 2008 (7:03am) - Jonathan Blow, the developer of the Xbox Live Arcade game, Braid, has found success in an industry dominated by large companies such as EA, Activision, etc.
Braid in its first week alone was downloaded onto over 55,000 Xboxs, at a price of $15, resulting in $825K of revenue. While Microsofts cut of each sale has not been disclosed its a success none the less for Blow. Sony and Nintendo also offer virtual consoles for their respective platforms. The success of games such as Braid and the ease of distribution provided by the consoles download capabilities will make it feasible for independent publisher to produce innovative and daring games.
