"The Sims 3" is a Blockbuster for EA
June 9th, 2009 (6:57pm) - What does it take to qualify as the best selling PC/MAC launch at EA? It takes 1.4 million copies of "The Sims 3" to be sold in a single week.
At a wholesale cost of about $40 a unit 1.4 million that translates to roughly $56 million in revenue for EA. EA continued its Sims 3 roll with by taking the top spot for their Apple iPhone app. The accomplishment of taking the top spot in the Apple app store is all the more notable given the $10 price tag of the app given that most other games for the platform run $0.99 - 3.00.
