After years of not having a single new console title. And paying the rent off of GameCube ports of his Dreamcast games & Gameboy Advance titles. Sega’s legendary mascot Sonic The Hedgehog makes his return in a multi-platform debut and embarks on what Sega’s calling “his biggest adventure ever,” with his trademark blazing speed and a new gameplay twist in Sonic Heroes. Sonic and his friends have evolved, adopting a configuration feature that lets gamers control three playable characters simultaneously, using Sonic’s speed, Knuckles’ power, and Tails’ ability to fly, to conquer massive worlds. This team-based gameplay marks the next evolution in Sonic’s gaming career, taking platform gaming to a completely new level. Using the three formations and the powerful moves that each team member has, Sonic and his friends combine forces to battle the ultimate evil. Oh plus you get to play as Shadow again! With his own little team of misfits. Sonic Heroes is looking to bring the joy of the Genesis classics back to gamers.

Not much more is known about Sonic Teams new Sonic The Hedgehog title. But Criterion Software recently announced that Sonic Team will be incorporating the company’s popular RenderWare technology into its next big multiplatform project, Sonic Heroes. Sonic’s creator Yuji Naka, President & CEO of the Sonic Team comments, "We decided to license RenderWare because the solution provided us with not only the technology, but also the best methodologies for efficient multi-platform development, enabling our team to focus on what really makes Sonic stand out. Criterion’s extensive knowledge and experience of multiplatform development has enabled them to provide unrivalled support throughout the course of the development process. We hope our customers will enjoy the thrilling experience of our latest and greatest Sonic."

Outlook…
There are two main things I’m a bit disappointed with. The first being that I was really looking forward to a new Sonic game when you play exclusively as the Blue Bomber hero like the old days. Or maybe Shadow also I kind of got attached to him since Sonic Adventure 2. The other disappointment being the fact that the visual presentation is as of now lacking. It’s almost identical to the Sonic Adventure titles on GameCube now. I was looking to see Sonic with blue fur looking more like Starfox Adventures than a nice coat of paint with a wax job. Other than that I’m very excited to see what Sonic has in store for us this holiday season. I hope you won’t disappoint Sonic. Three strikes and the Hedgehog’s out!
