Super Monkey Ball is a puzzle game much to the likes of the late 80s cult hit Marble Madness. SMB is a fast-paced puzzle game that is shaping up to be one of the most rewarding multiplayer experiences on the Nintendo game cube. SMB gives players a choice between three related monkeys (Aiai, Meemee, and Baby) once choosing your character its off to tackle one hundred levels, yes this game is fairly large however it is also fairly simple. But there will be a challenge for everyone. By now everyone is wondering exactly how you play this game. Players maneuver their monkey around a course, collecting bananas. Typical of most platformers when you gather one hundred bananas you will earn an extra monkey (life). The courses are filled with tilting landscapes, nasty turns, holes, and the collapsing floor. On top of all this SMB forces players to complete the course under a time limit. SMB will likely hook you from the first time you play it. However this game really shouldn’t be played alone. Considering that it is a Multi-player game at heart. Just picture a group of friends sitting around playing this game when suddenly one of them falls off a ledge, a short moment of silence, then a sudden outburst of laughter. Of course as in most multiplayer Adventure/Race titles there are those nifty powerups, some of which change the size of their ball, tilt the board, or create one of many hazards for your opponents. Be sure to pick up this awesome title on October 30, 2001 just in time for the launch of Nintendo’s crazy little cube.
