Nintendo has many titles that people remember forever and Mario Kart is easily one of them. Being one of the first to have four player support through versus and battle modes the game was simply addictive. Though not much seemed to be shown, the title was confirmed as being in development. At the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2001, a very short clip, of only 7 seconds showed the graphic capability of how good the characters could look. In the clip Mario and Luigi were shown riding their karts down a straight road, with no background to be seen, but the characters themselves showed the graphical superiority of what the GC could pull off, including the bump-mapped road they drove on. The animations the characters showed were far behind that of previous Mario Kart titles. One of the best parts of Mario Kart is by far the fact that the game uses the mascot characters of Nintendo, the ones we all enjoy and love. From previous titles, most of the characters are from the Mario world, including Mario himself, Luigi, Toad, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Wario, Donkey Kong, and Bowser. All of which have been in a Mario game at some point. If some new characters make their way into the next Mario or Luigi title, maybe there will be a few more we can hope for, like Waluigi for instance. Hopefully, they will include even more power-ups including all the classic ones. Obviously, with what was shown at E3’01, the title was very early on in development, but a plus is that the title is being developed by EAD, so we should be able to get the same feeling we did with older Mario Karts with the new one. Spaceworld ’01 could show more, but with the appearance at E3, the title is likely to appear in late 2002 or even later. Thanks to IGN for their info
