If you were to name one game that sparked countless clones and provided a very simplistic, yet ultimately satisfying formula which kept you coming back time and time again, what game would you name? I, and without a single doubt in my mind or heart, must say Doom. It ripped you off your butt and threw you into a demonish hell, literally. The series that started it all is soon coming back, and this time around, you can expect more than just classic Doom-style gameplay. Expect your senses to be pushed to the limit, as seeing diminutive, dark winding hallways, moving shadows and engrossing lighting effects. Id software hopes to recreate the classic feel while adding a complete overhaul of the graphics, which is rumored will completely push up the standards and will require avant-garde technology. If nothing else can be said about the graphics then I will just say theyll be truely groundbreaking. One of the things that made Doom such a classic was the fast and furious gameplay. This time around expect there to be a more immersive feel. This is probably going to be the most scary game ever to be produced. The game will be shockingly chilling and intends to push you to the edge of insanity. Wonderful isnt it? For a game to be fun it must meet certain standards, and hopes are that Doom III will meet and shatter those standards. One could go on about the many countless nights spent playing the Doom of old, but one things for certain, while the new Doom is still a Doom, it isnt just going to be Doom, its going to be groundbreaking. Audio in Doom III looks to be very impressive as well, as demon screeches and howls send chills up your back in full 5.1 surround. Not to mention Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails will be doing some of the sound effects and music in the game. Hope for Doom III to make you wet yourself sometime before the end of this year (hopefully). |
