Introduction RE or not RE? That is the question. That question has been on the minds of Resident Evil players worldwide. The ansewer it is by far not just Resident Evil for the PSone with a new splash of paint. Come step into the mansion as you will soon see this is a whole new experince.Presentation When you first boot up RE you will be greeted by a body bag with ypu know what in it. Then boom old baldy gets shot. And that brings you to the main menu as an evil eye stares at you. You can choose Load Game, New Game, & Options. The options menu is nicely laid out but very limited. There is not much you can do there. When you pick New Game you will have to choose out of two questions before you play. Be sure you pick the right one it might decide Life or Death for you. After you pick your charcter(Chris or Jill) and be off to the main game. Graphics & Sound GRAPHICS: This is where RE shines alot. Graphicly the most impressive game to date some might say. And I have to say I agree. Capcom really did a great job re-createing the mansion for a next-gen console. The shadows are very realistic. Every bit of light effects the way the shadows move in the room you are in. And the backrounds are still pre-renderd but still looks like it’s all in full 3D. The charcter models are amazing you can even see the veins in Chris arms. Even Jill’s breast move very life like. Not over done like games like Dead or Alive. The monsters are almost as good looking as the main charcters.SOUND: The sound is also the best i’ve seen done in a videogame. The tunes are very moody and sets the feeling right for the game. The sound effects are great even as you walk down the main hall stairs if one foot hits the carpet it’s a soft sound. If the other hits the wood it makes a loud sound that ecos through the hall. Gameplay Everything falls into place just right with this game. Who would have thought with the still digital movement it will still work so well tith the GameCube analog stick. The only real thing holding this game back is some might not like the slow feel to the battles with monsters. Many like the fast gun flying action of FPS and other action games. But extra stuff like burning zombies and D. Knife, Grenade & Tazer add spice to the game and brings something new to the table. Lasting Appeal With three diffrent game modes to unlock, two secret weapons, & 12 endings to see. It’s alot of stuff to keep you comming back for some more. The downfall is that the extra modes are for the most part not too fun. One tough Zombie is my fav and is the only one that stands out. Conclusion With the new look alone as a big RE fan I got the game. And found this game is so much more than what I expected it to be. If you’re a fan of the series or a newcomer to the RE world. If you own a GameCube buy it. |
