Intro: Tribes 2,created by Sierra in conjunction with Dynamix, brings online play and teamwork to a whole new level. The game emphasizes Teamplay in most of the available game types. Single Player is different from other single player modes of other games, using bots and training missions you can entertain yourselves on the same maps offline for your convience. Another conviences is that theres two different exes, the Tribes Online Game and the Solo or Lan Game. With Introductions said lets get on with specific components of the game. Graphics: Like every other online game the graphics can set to high, low or in the middle. This helps a lot if your on a 56k modem or you have a slower computer. At the very best, and even at the medium levels of Graphics, explosions and movement effects in relation to the ground is very impressive. Splash explosions are rendered beautifully as the weapons ammunition (whatever it may be)impacts on its target. When walking or running along the ground you kick up dust, snow or anything else that may be on the ground. Vehicles also have the same effect on the ground. such as the GravCycle. When stationary, the gravcycle pushes dust away from it like a helicopter blade. Due to some minor problems such as game lock ups and freezes due to graphic compatibility Im giving the graphics a strong 9/10. Sound: Sound is above average and at the least average, with past games an impressive standard was set so average and above average meets that impressive bar. I cant really say much about the sound, its nothing to go in awe at but its not completely horrible or something to throw out the window. The sound is appropriate for each role and is very original. I can safely give sound a 10/10 as there are no flaws that I can see. Gameplay: Here we go, gameplay, the gameplay of Tribes 2 is definitely above average. Tribes 2 accelerates online and team play very well. The assorted weapons, terrain, and vehicles make each match vary from the last. Game types are very plentiful and they range from Capture the Flag to Deathmatch to Hunter, where everyone goes after one person at a time, the one player basically runs for his life fighting off the entire server which can be as low as 10 and as high as 60.You can play the game on foot, in the air, or on land, even in the water. In the game your able to hop out of your vehicle even if its still going..if your going fast enough you can direct it into a building and perform a kamikaze. Gameplay is highly customizable and you can perform new tricks and stunts all the time with some coordination..gameplay gets a 10/10 Controls: This is a game that deserves a review of the controls all by itself. Tribes 2 revolutionizes the chat system using complex yet easy to learn chat commands called Binds. Pressing V then a series of letters allows you to say and move a number of different things..there are animations where you can get your character do wave Hi or other things. Once learned the chat system is very effective and useful. Other controls such as the numpad allows you to choose what you want to be when you use the pads, pressing the numpad enter key you can customize each type of armor and soldier...due to some complications and the fact that controls are somewhat complicated I give the controls a 10/10..the bind system wins it all..complete genius.. Overall Tribes 2 is a huge step in online games, the only problems that it has had is that since Dynamix has been fired from the project the community has been broken for a very long time now. This means you cant check your T-mail, search for tribes, create a tribe, search for warriors, post in the forums and a number of other things. A patch is scheduled sometime in the Fall which should fix everything, thank god. If you like a first person shooter with good online play and a lot of different options then you should DEFINITLY without a doubt get Tribes 2,I give Tribes 2 a 10/10.The game is almost perfect, which will become perfect with time..with new patches and updates.. |
