Presentation
Standing 30 feet tall and equipped with an arsenal of weaponry, Gun Metal fights hordes of enemies in this mission-based shooter exclusive to the Xbox. At the touch of a button, transform from robot to jet fighter and take the fight to the skies. Destroy and make use of everything crush rocks, fell trees, and tear chunks from buildings on your quest to liberate your people. Gun Metal offers a devastating mix of action and strategy gameplay. But falls sadly flat on its metal face. Read on....

Graphics
The graphics are decent in this game. The transformation from the Havoc suit to the Havoc jet and back are done well and look fluid. Up close your character and the weapons look good. The backgrounds and the other characters in the game are another story. The terrain just looks like another rendered background, nothing special or unusual about it. The buildings and bases look kind of cheesy and look like futuristic boxes with windows. The other characters look blocky but have nice textures. Often times, though, I couldnt tell if the vehicle I was attacking was dead or alive because after blowing them up they still look the same, only a shade darker. Explosions are ok, but it would have been more interesting (and helpful) if after you blew something up it was still on fire or was in pieces so you can at least tell that it was gone. Be careful when you fly or land in a friendly city! The humans are so small that it’s easy to step on them. If you kill too many you will be forced to restart the level.

Sound
I think there’s only one voice actor in this game and he’s a little on the annoying side to be totally honest. Sound effects are pretty much par for the course. I hated the bland techno music almost right away. But as you probably know by now, there is no need to worry about that, should you have the same reaction. This game lets you use your own soundtrack via the hard drive and it happens to be the perfect kind of game for this trick. If you happen to have Cd’s like DMX, Sum 41, Fozzy, Eminem,& Britney Spears. You’re good to go.

Gameplay
The gameplay is a little difficult to get used to and if you don’t adapt to games quickly you will soon be annoyed by some of the controller options. The jet, for one, is not highly maneuverable. If you want to complete a barrel roll (or even pull up for that matter) it takes some effort and getting used to. A number of times I died not from enemy gunfire but from crashing into a mountain because I failed to pull up in time. The Havoc suit is a very powerful istrument of destruction, but obviously it’s not as quick to dodge enemy gunfire as the jet. It gets very annoying to try and take out a small ground target in jet mode because you have to time an attack at precisely the right time in order to do the most damage. A number of times I gave up attacking with the jet and changed into the Havoc suit only to be destroyed seconds later because I wasn’t fast enough to dodge the hail of gunfire.

Conclusion
I’m pissed over this game. The Xbox is worth so much more. I’m getting sick and tired of developers not using the hardware. Oh yeah don’t think of this as Gun Metal. Think of it as Gunvalkrie 2. But worst than the first. If you really want to try this game RENT it. Other than that stay away.
