Introduction

Everyone i’m sure can remember back in the golden days sitting on a lonely barstool [or standing] in front of the game that over time would gather one of the industries largest collection of fans. Partly due to the highly popular NES release, Spy Hunter is one of the few games besides the obvious "sonic" and "Mario" that almost anybody who was an avid gamer would know about. The original was simple, drive an armed interceptor through rough highways fighting the Nostra International, when damaged, simply pull into the back of the red semi. Spy Hunter for the PS2 brings back the feeling of the original only this time with one hell of a facelift.

Presentation

From the moment you boot up Spy Hunter your transcended into a world filled with action and suspense. The menu layout is High-Tech and very fitting for even the most unskilled of spy hunters. Which means even you can figure out how to get started. However i’m sure there are some who believe they are the grand master of spy hunters, in that case, prepare to hunt!

Graphics & Sound

Graphics in Spy Hunter are over top notch; the effects of the water as you jump from the higher scenery right into the river are utterly astonishing. While you cannot compare this to the extreme amount of detail as put into some games such as GT3, it ranks very high up there. However, sound on the other hand is one major plus. Not only do you have the normal Mono/Stereo options, Headphone/Surround are also included. On top of all this you have a completely reworked theme song performed by none other than SALIVA.

Gameplay

Gameplay is, well exactly what you have imagined if you ever played the original only this time, there are 4 vehicles or modifications of vehicles to traverse across land, and sea. If you had ever played the infamous 007 Racer, then you get an idea of what to expect, only without the choppy graphics and sub par gameplay. Basically you control your "interceptor" around areas gathering Intel, and blowing things up. Now admit it, any game where you blow something up, is well FUN!

Lasting Appeal

With many Extra Features such as two SALIVA Music videos, a behind the scenes story and many more bonus materials, you have no excuse not to go back and unlock everything. That is partially what makes this game. Every level is fun to play no matter how many times you have been through it before [That is if your winning].

Conclusion

Overall this is the first of many must have games to be released on the PS2, Spy Hunter is defiantly worth the money, And best of all there is no crappy movie license attached.
