Introduction

Sometime in the 1960’s researchers found an artifact. Scientists spent generations trying to decipher the artifact. When finished they conclude that is some sort of transportation device. Experiments with inanimate objects have gone really well, so what else for a human scientist to do but bring out the lab rat. Russell as he was called was the first to be teleported.
To a degree the teleportation was successful, however Russell did not make his journey alone.
Everything within a 2000-mile radius of the artifact was taken. Trees, plants, squirrels, humans, everything was violently transported to an alien planet where over 70% of the human population was destroyed, and Russell was never again seen. The planet, Morgana was habitable to humans, however on only the harshest of terms. The survivors gathered in camps where they over time rebuilt their primitive cultures. Resources over land were scarce and often conflicts over land would occur. People began to build robotic machines of war, as well as capture and train alien life forms to fight for their side. Among all the fighting between men, there is a greater foe, The Aliens!

Presentation

Everything you would expect from a RTS game, and everything you would expect from a RPG game all combined into what seems to be a great operating system. Everything in SG is not too hard to learn and can have rookies fighting for their Faction in no time. The FMV is amazing and entertaining. The main gripe here is that sometimes (consider it is an online game) screens have major lag in between, this might just be loading times from within the game engine itself, or possibly load times due to internet lag. Either way the gripe is minimal and doesn’t really effect the majority of gameplay.

Graphics & Sound

Beautiful scenery, amazing animations and a well orchestrated score all compile for what makes one very polished game. There is a large amount of detail within your character as well as your units each time you upgrade them they appear a little different. For instance with a Pelican Air Unit, we found, that level 1 units appear darker and more beat up than level 3 units whoa pear bright and well distinguished. However overall if you have ever played Command and Conquer or more importantly Star craft, you pretty much know what to expect as far as graphics. Sound is also a major part of the game, different tempos, and melodies seem to immerse you into the game and feel ever so patriotic to you faction at times of war. A very well done game by Nexon no doubt.

Gameplay

This is where Shattered Galaxy is really set apart from other games some dub it as MMORTS and some call it a role playing game, While actually it’s a rather interesting mix of both.
For all of you role-playing fans there is a lot of RPG elements when you are in your capital or an allies capital. However when you inter Warfare its all out RTS. The price for service can be as low as 5 dollars a month (prepaid we assume) or the usual 9.95 a month (you get a month free). Another point that sets the game apart is how everything is in Real-time allowing you to join a massive community of thousands like yourself and gain in rank, as well as share strategies, designs, and war stories from people all across the world. The world is Huge with ever expanding planets and new factions rising every day, thanks to the ever-evolving game universe that can support over 100,000 simultaneous players. Prepare yourself to advance to the ever so powerful general.

Lasting Appeal

With a mixture of MMORPG elements as well as your favorite elements from a lot of RTS games, this title should appeal to many fans from both. As a mixture of Teamwork, Action, Rpg, and Rts, its hard not to love it, however many hardcore fans of some RTS games will find it hard to adjust to the RPG elements of the game.

Conclusion

This game is one of the less known titles this year, however it has everything needed to make it one of the greatest of all times as well as the first to successfully create the MMORTS (Massively Multiplayer Online Real-Time Strategy) Game.
