Introduction When I was first told that I would be doing the review for Men In Black: Crashdown I was very excited. First of all I had the misconception that it would be based on the movie, which is still one of my favorites even today. Boy was I proven wrong, This game is based on the more than crappy animated series and will likely make anyone who is over 15 cry in sheer disappointment of what could really have been a great game.Presentation The game was actually pretty good until... That god awful FMV sequence Not only does it not resemble the animated series, it has nothing to do with MIB, I dont know the beginning theme is very corny, Runecraft should have put more thought into this. Perhaps they will take the game engine and retool it for a True MIB game.Graphics & Sound Graphically this Title pulls off some very nice effects for the Playstation. It will seem very dull at first however once you make it past the first few stages you begin to see the originality within MIB:C. For instance there is one level where the walls have eyeballs that seem to move and stare at you, very creepy indeed. The sound is almost bad enough to make me shove an ice pick in my ears. Really havent we heard this repetitive style of music in games like Doom? Or even worse the original Wolfenstein had better music. With that put to the side lame FMV animation and shabby voice acting really dull the overall experience. Gameplay Men in Black: Crashdown is your typical FPS. During most of the game you will play as either agent J, or agent K. What more could you expect this is at least halfway based on the animated series. You will be put to the test in over 26 levels with 15 seemingly stupid alien races (AI). However, the good thing is that you get to battle stupid with 25 different weapons. If your looking for an alternative to the Medal of Honor Series MIB:C might actually provide you with some enjoyment. The game isnt really all that bad , however, we have all been spoiled with so many good FPS games. Lasting Appeal Is this game fun? Sure it is, however there wasnt enough work put into it in my opinion. This game will likely keep those who have yet to upgrade to the next generation of consoles busy for quite some time. Conclusion Please rent this game first, however if you buy it its only going to set you back 17.99, yes thats cheap. Perhaps that was the reason for the less than stellar approach. All in all this is a decent game while not spectacular its a nice addition to anyones collection. |
