Introduction

Long before man ever had the chance to shop in malls, or drive around in fancy cars, before even the creation of the earth, there was a place known as "The Island". The island is a beautiful asteroid like planet. The world, filled with lush vegetation and many different creatures, is ruled by Kabuto. Kabuto is the only one of his kind, a giant whose soul purpose is to defend the life of the island. Everyone attacks Kabuto giving him little room for trust. However, the island was home to a completely different type of creature. These creatures were from the ocean, harsh rulers too. The Sea Reapers are a race of women who originally created Kabuto to protect the island as well as their harsh rule. Kabuto, sick and tired of being mistreated, began to turn on the very people who gave him life. This is how they were driven back into the sea. Now, in the present day, The Sea Reapers have a new ruler. Sappho intends to return the sea reapers to their rightful position as rulers of the island. Sappho has a daughter, unsure of her mothers evil doings, Delphi just want’s someone who is willing to talk to her. On top of all this there are five cocky space aliens on their holiday leave have been eaten by a large space fish. Five months pass until the Meccaryns are finally ejected from the bowels of the fish, what a drunken mess. The Meccs somehow manage to get their ship to the island for repairs, but as expected nothing works out. Two of your buddies are lost on the island, and on top of that you fall from your own ship. Alone at last, you take control here, fight the Sea Reapers and save your Mates!

Presentation

Wickedly amusing, Giants has a charm to it that no other game has yet to present. You will literly be laughing your ass off for hours at a time. The only real concern I had with Giants was the lack of a multiplayer mode. Even a co-op mode would have been awesome. Also, how hard would it have been to actually show the weapon when in first person view? These two gripes to the side Giants really does impress.

Graphics & Sound

While the PC version outshines the ps2 version, Giants is definitely no eyesore. Everything is very detailed. The levels are some of the largest seen in a console game. Orgasmic plants as well as the completely eerie creatures add for one interesting trip. The games music and sound effects are topnotch and make you really wish you had a surround sound system

Gameplay

Players will find that Giants is neither a small nor a short game. With 45 total missions that span across 16 unique islands, and with three different races to play, gamers are going to have a bizarre strangely platform-style action game that simply has not comparison. Think of the MDK series.

Lasting Appeal

If your a fan of the MDK series, you will be glad to know that Digital Mayhem is made up of a lot of the Shiny team members who left a few years back. This game reminds me of MDK with more of an outdoor theme and one hell of a comic relief project.

Conclusion

Giants mixes comedy with action for what has to be one of the better games this year. Only a fool like yourself would pass it up. While still a port Giants is innovative and worth the purchase.
